Gas Line Boy Fully Fuelled Ahead Of National Bid

The latest in Grand National news sees Jockey Robbie Dunne booked to ride the Ian Williams-trained GAS LINE BOY for the Randox Health Grand National and is confident of a good showing.

The horse will be looking to become the first 12 year-old to win the Grand National since Amberleigh House won the prize in 2004. The horse seems to love the Aintree fences and many punters will remember him finishing fifth in the race 12 months ago – beaten 17 lengths. He’s since won the Grand Sefton Chase over these fences back in December so will head into the race in tip-top order.

It’s worth pointing out that he did fall in the 2015 renewal though and based on his rating and weight this year does have a big more to find. He was rated 144 and carried 10-7 last year but after his good season has been allocated 10-10 this year and is now off an official rating of 148.

Dunne said: “Gas Line Boy lights up around Aintree. You know from pretty early on in the race whether you’re on a horse who is enjoying himself or not, and he seems to love those fences more than anything.

“He wasn’t always the best jumper before but he’s good now, especially at Aintree.

“I’ve done pretty well over the National fences and he’s a lovely horse to be associated with – it’s always nice to get the opportunity to ride these horses in the first place. I’m just hoping the ground dries out a bit before the race because he’d prefer that even though he’s won on soft.”

Gas Line Boy is currently around 25/1*-33/1* in the betting depending if you shop around.
